The Azul Macaùbas quarries have been operating since 1978 and are located in the state of Bahia, Brazil, part in the municipality of Macaùbas and part in the municipality of Boquira, in the so-called Vereda mountain range.

This is the only region in the world where blue quartzites are found and GM Granitos e Marmores from the beginning adopted and launched its material with the name of Azul Macaùbas.

In the same region, toward the municipality of Boquira, there are two more quarries of similar but not equal materials called Azul Boquira and Azul Imperial.

The Azul Boquira quarry was recently sold and the new owners began to call their material
Azul Macaùbas.
